Figurative painting

Figurative art presents real objects in the paintings. If abstract art denies the need to depict realistism in the artist’s works, figurativists strive to reflect the objects surrounding them with maximum accuracy in their works.

Figurative art is based on the real world, not on the illusions of the artist that are deeply hidden in the subconscious. Supporters of this trend are convinced that an artist should create recognizable images in their works.

An artist imagines different objects: people, houses, animals, cars, plants. Usually master uses:

  • a wide colour palette
  • bizarre and original shapes of objects
  • a combination of contrasts
  • light and shadow
  • perspective and volume.

Figurative art is always aimed at the emotional perception of the viewer through the showing of recognizable forms of objects.

This direction of art can include works of many genres: portrait, historical, animalistic, landscape, nude. Also

It combines many different styles where the main object is the real world, including: realism, classicism, romanticism, impressionism, baroque, rococo.
